Elements of a Leadership Change Model

What do the emotions of your employees tell you? The following chart details the message.

If your team (or team member) uses the word confusion, leaders, start communicating about purpose and meaning. Tell them the why.

  • If your team (or team member) uses the word anxiety, leaders chat with him/her/them to discover where they feel under prepared. Can you offer your education and/or coaching for advancement?
  • If your team (or team member) seems demonstrates weak engagement, consider offering more incentives. Celebrate short-term and long-term achievements. Communicate about the accomplishments.
  • If your team (or team member) expresses frustration, examine the ways that resources can be boosted or adjusted.
  • Is your team experiencing false starts? If so, review your action plan for needed adjustment and communicate it more. Someone needs to know something in order to act.
