Goodwill Messaging

What is “Goodwill?”  Simply put, it’s wording your messages with respect and kindness.

Too often we get busy with life and type words in an email or stay them quickly to get the task done.  And that can be a major mistake – take time to be kind.  Business begins and ends with relationships.  Business is relationships and the tool of relationships is communication.

Deliver your message in a way that helps the receiver accept it.  That is not to stay, to misrepresent any truth.  Stay in integrity.  Tell the truth.  Just do it with respect.  Here is an example set to help you:

Not-s0-good:    What do you mean?

Better:   I don’t understand  your last email.  Would you tell me again?

Better yet:  In order to complete your request, I need a quick chat as I have a few questions.  Is there a time tomorrow that we could meet?

Yes, it often uses more words and more time to select the “right” words for the moment, the specific message, and the particular audience.
